Citizen involvement in the PDU (French version of the European SUMP) process is obligatory only at final stage of the process: consultation of certain associations when they require it, public enquiry on a draft plan.These recent years, urban mobility authorities have innovated, involving citizens throughout the whole process (PDU cafés, citizen workshops …). This factsheet presents these experiences and draws recommendations useful both for French and European local authorities, for the promotion of the SUMP concept.
